6pm-8pm On-site registration (Nallikari Seaside Café)
8pm Online pre-registration and ticket sale closes, on-site registration for IYWC closes. All athletes must sign up before the deadline!
8pm-11pm Pre-event get-together (place TBD) for competitors, organizers, and everyone interested (at own cost, no ticket required)
9pm Start lists for the IYWC will be published.
7am Competition office opens, registration begins. Registration closes at 7.20am.
7.25am Technical meeting for reviewing the essential competition aspects and rules.
8am-6pm Qualifications.
7pm Start lists for the IYWC finals will be published.
Saturday, Mar 2 (IYWC Finals) Sunday, Mar 3 (IECF)
7am Competition office opens.
8am-4.30pm Finals.
5.30pm Award ceremony.
7pm-12am IYWC afterparty and sauna for both IYWC and IECF athletes, organizing staff, and Climbing Community (place TBD).

COMPETITOR REGISTRATION

ICE CLIMBING WORLD YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS

Athlete registration to UIAA should be done via national UIAA member federation. All climbers must also purchase a Competitor ticket. Ticket sale ends on Wednesday February 27 at 5pm (EET), and it is not possible to purchase the competition ticket on-site.

IYWC Competitor ticket includes accommodation for two nights. Please note that the accommodation cannot be guaranteed if ticket was purchased after January 31!

If you are competing also in European Cup Finals, separate ticket needs to be purchased. IYWC Competitor also automatically becomes part of Climbing Community (spectator ticket to European Cup Finals, including lunch and closing party).

EUROPEAN CUP FINALS

Athlete registration is done by purchasing the European Cup Finals Competitor ticket. Please, also register to UIAA via this form (mandatory)! Ticket sale ends on Saturday March 2 at 5pm (EET). It is not possible to buy the ticket on-site. European Cup Finals Competitor also automatically becomes part of Climbing Community (spectator ticket to IYWC, including lunch on both days and access to all side events).

FINNISH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

There is no separate registration to Finnish National Championships. If you wish to compete in Finnish National Championships (SM-kilpailut), please purchase either IYWC or IECF ticket, or both, depending on your preference. Please, also register to UIAA via this form (mandatory)!

CLIMBING COMMUNITY

We have created the ultimate FINICE2019 experience for coaches, family members, friends, and everyone who feels like part of the climbing family by providing you the Climbing Community ticket! By becoming part of the Climbing Community, you will get enhanced spectator tickets to both events at once. These tickets include a daily warm lunch and snacks, and entrance to all side events, including the closing parties of both competitions.

Competitor: Ice Climbing World Youth Championships

Competitor ticket includes the competition fee, daily warm lunch and snacks at the competition site, side events and accommodation for two nights. Competitor also automatically becomes part of Climbing Community.

Competitor ticket includes the competition fee, warm lunch on competition day, and access to official after party (sauna, food, live DJ, etc.). Competitors are entitled to discounted accommodation. Competitor also automatically becomes part of Climbing Community.

Climbing Community

Climbing Community ticket is for coaches, family members, friends, and the climbing community. It covers both the World Youth Championships and European Cup Finals events as a spectator. With this ticket, you will get daily lunch at the competition site and entrance to all side events.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General


What on earth is Oulu?

The City of Oulu is the capital of northern Finland. The Oulu Region has about 250,000 inhabitants. Transport connections are direct and fast, regardless of the means of transport or direction. All main roads meet in Oulu. Oulu has an international airport and there are about 15 flights to and from Helsinki each day. In addition, you can fly direct from Oulu to Riga, Tampere, Rovaniemi and Kemi-Tornio. Oulu railway station is one of the busiest in Finland. What kind of services there are at the competition site?

At the venue, there will be music and other entertainment for the audience. There are heated tents, food market, public toilets, and plenty of parking space.

Will there be transportation between competition site and accommodation/city centre?

Bus transportation is running between Nallikari/Oulu city centre and the competition site. One way ticket costs 3 €. This is the easiest way to get to the competition site and back, and the transportation is available also for the spectators! Detailed schedule will be published later on.

I'd like to climb in Oulu! What are the possibilities?

Oulu Climbing Gym (Oulun kiipeilykeskus) offers two boulder gyms and wide variety of rope action. Korouoma Canyon (approximately 300 km from Oulu) is the best place in Finland to climb ice and is definitely worth a visit. More info from our Facebook page.


World youth championships


How to register?

Athlete registration to UIAA should be done via national UIAA member federation. All climbers must also purchase a Competitor ticket. If you are competing also in European Cup Finals, you need to buy a Competitor ticket for that event separately.

Is there a quota per country?

Quota for each country is six female and six male climbers per series.

Is there an age limit?

Year of birth must be between 1998 and 2006.

When to buy ticket?

Competitor ticket sale ends on Wednesday 27th of February at 5pm (EET), and it is not possible to purchase the competition ticket on-site. The accommodation cannot be guaranteed to those competitors who purchase their tickets after 31st of January.

How to book accommodation?

As a competitor you will get two nights free accommodation at Nallikari Holiday Village (28th of February to 2nd of March). You or your team manager should contact the reception and organize your stay. You can also book additional nights or add self-paying friends or family members to your group. You will get detailed instructions after purchasing the ticket.

Buy a ticket from Eventbrite. Please, also register to UIAA via this form (mandatory)!

Is there a quota per country?

There are no quotas.

Can non-Europeans take part?

Yes they can, but they will not get points for European Cup.

When to buy ticket?

Competitor ticket sale ends on Saturday March 2 at 5pm (EET), and it is not possible to purchase the competition ticket on-site. Note that early bird tickets (28 €) are available only until Nov 30! Standard tickets are sold Dec 1 - Jan 30 (35 €) and after that the last minute ticket price is 42 €.

How to register?

Register by buying a ticket to European Cup Finals or World Youth Championships. If you are competing in World Youth Championships, remember to register also for Suomen Kiipeilyliitto. Please, also register to UIAA via this form (mandatory)!

Is there a quota for Finnish climbers in the finals?

No, the ranking for Finnish Championships is determined according the overall result.

Will there be speed competition in Finnish Championships?

Adults compete only in lead. Youth climbers compete in both lead and speed.
